Jason could you please help me understand how Remote ID is going to keep everyone safer? I fail to see how it is keeping anyone safer in its current form. I feel ADSB or something else Pilots and control towers could see in their respective environments where drones re as I get seeing and avoid them can be difficult at best from manned aircraft. I don’t see how nosey Nelly down the street being able to whip out her phone and coming to me as a operator is making anyone safer, if anything it will at least temporarily make it harder to see and avoid manned aircraft until I can safely land to converse in a more attentive manner. Feel free to email me if you would rather not talk about it publicly and I will respect that stance. I get it’s not so much the FAA as congress putting this into place.

Stop spreading the BS License Plate Falacy. That is not what it is or equates to. You as an instructor should be better than spreading bad information. And RID does LITERALLY NOTHING to improve aviation safety. Nothing. All it serves to do is restrict the RC aviation hobbyists to pave way for UAS UTM for google, amazon, walmart, and the like. RID is NOT shown to pilots OR ATC. It does NOTHING useful or helpful to the public in ANY way. Frankly shame on you for supporting it.

I taught Part 107 through the community colleges for publica safety personnel and we are finding the FAA Part 107 test has drastically changed as to the information or questions they ask. In fact, at times the questions are quite honestly very much out there! What landscape regarding Part 107 testing are you hearing back from your current students or even students of old like myself? To be completely honest the new regulations over the past few years have driven me away from from flying for fun. They have taken the fun away from flying and pushed me back to my desire to fly manned aircraft which is where I have found you. Unfortunately just like everything else the cost has made it prohibitive… Recently I have decided since I have 30+ years of experience with various forms of Model Aviation and about 15 years of Photography experience I might as well make some money and while I took the test and passed and even went through the process of getting through the application process, I’m still waiting on my card since I had to file a paper application I get no temporary certificate. 2 Months, 3 days and counting… Enough about me though… I feel Remote ID has the potential to be dangerous for drone operators even if they aren’t doing anything wrong. Some people have such a problem with drones in general that they are not willing to hear a operator out and willing to bring harm to them. I feel it would be better if it were only available to pilots, CTO’s, the FAA, and maybe LEO’s and not the general public. I also feel like commercially produced drones should have it for sure as I feel that is where most of the problems started and remain in my opinion. I also feel that commercial operators should only need one remote id module for non compliant commercial drones that they operate. It’s really starting to feel there is an alternative plane and safety is a possible side effect of remote ID.

Living in a more conservative area with people terrified of conspiracies, I’m afraid of some crazy person tracking my physical location and trying to harm me because I’m legally flying a drone within the line of sight / camera view of their property. If I am harmed, I can’t send the bills to the FAA (if I live to tell about it).

Remote ID is a surveillance tool that btw was deemed so in another case that shares the EXACT SAME claims First Remote ID allows GPS tracking, data collection and sharing across various entities and allows anyone with a cell phone to have access to such data. ( KEEP THAT FACT IN MIND ) Now a SCOTUS Ruling involving the EXACT SAME claims ruled that such actions violated a citizens rights under the 4th Amendment Now take note also that the Judge in the RDQ v FAA case about RID being Unconstitutional and violating that 4th Amendment right was ruled this way and I quote ' Anyone flying a drone does NOT have the expectation of privacy " end quote. Now consider that ignorant Judges bias and uneducated ruling. IN Carpenter v US the SCOTUS stated a fact this way , "the Court has already recognized that individuals have a "reasonable expectation of privacy in the whole of their physical movements." end quote and they further more stated, " the Court must take account of more sophisticated systems that are already in use or in development,” For instance we now see that system in Remote ID The Chief Justice stated it this way concerning such tracking and data collecting in that case " As with GPS information, the time-stamped data provides an intimate window into a person’s life, revealing not only his particular movements, but through them his “familial, political, professional, religious, and sexual associations.” These location records “hold for many Americans the ‘privacies of life.’” . . . A cell phone faithfully follows its owner beyond public thoroughfares and into private residences, doctor’s offices, political headquarters, and other potentially revealing locales. Accordingly, when the Government tracks the location of a cell phone it achieves near perfect surveillance, as if it had attached an ankle monitor to the phone’s user. " Now consider what a operator and their drone does. The drone is flown as a guide no different than if the operated walked into an area the Drone is their eyes for that ability. It like the cell phone is being Tracked, it's data collected and shared across various entities from the FAA to the USS to the Law enforcement and to EVERYONE with a cell phone and that drones movements are no different than the operators movements from place to place and as the Chief Justice mentioned, it also holds the "privacies" of that operators life . and they are under constant near perfect surveillance while in flight ( including the operator ) as that data shows take off and landing etc where a operator is which allows not only their location but any familial associations , be it professional or religious or sexual. SO, just as the SCOTUS Ruled such cell phone tracking and data collection and sharing violated every cell phone owners 4th Amendment right, the EXACT SAME violation is being made when one operates a Drone and I might add any drone from camera drones to model airplanes to Helicopters to Freestyle Kwads to Little Jimmy's Airhog or Walmart's special toy drones to even drone racers on courses designed for them, they all fall under that same violation IF tracked with RID . Now the DC Judge who made that ignorant ruling on RID basically says IF someone see's your drone you lose your 4th Amendment rights among other Federal and State privacy rights because you do not have that expectation of privacy while flying a RC TOY in the air. Well does one lose their rights if flying a Kite? or throwing a ball in the air ? What about jumping on a trampoline ? because how can we ( according to that bias and ignorant DC Judge) expect to have privacy while having anything in the air ? BUT doesn't the 4th Amendment protect those rights EVERYWHERE I am and while doing EVERYTHING I do ? of course it does as the many courts have indeed ruled . We do not LOSE that expectation of privacy just because we are in public or can be seen by someone on public, that notion is absurd and THAT is the basic premise the DC Judge suggested in her ruling Well a drone is involved so suddenly you have no expectation of privacy, very foolish claim BUT RDQ and their lawyers never appealed to the next court which i might add a DC Court found that the FAA registration was ILLEGAL. So the Commercial drone people and the AMA lobbied some Congress folks who slipped it into a defense bill and it became a law again another subject had it been readdressed would have also won because it was already ruled on and ruled illegal btw. BUT here we are Sept 2023 and the Drone manufacturers are still not complying and yet the burden is being placed on consumers while those manufacturers are not selling aircraft with RID and those making the modules are NOT following the Finale Rule as even the FAA stated they were NOT to cost over $ 50 bucks and in fact the rule stated they had to be between $20 and $50 and yet again here we are, they allowed to skirt the rule while the consumer being threatened by the rule ALL because the COMMERCIAL Drone Industry has demanded the NAS from 400 ft AGL to the surface and has lobbied Congress spending BILLION$ to buy that space with their dream claims that for the majority will NEVER come to pass. Forbes stated it was over $23 Billion now and will be $58.7 Billion by 2030 . SO $$$ talks and we know politicians seeing those signs $$$$ always will bow to whoever gives it to them and THAT is the TRUE REASON this is happening. RID is a surveillance tool so they can Move and or remove you at the Commercial folks whim...PERIOD UR WELCOME

I am a part 107 SUAV operator. I got my 107 thanks to Remote Pilot 101 (Thanks Jason!...which reminds me it's time to study for my retest soon). I have an older drone (Yuneec H520) that does NOT have a Remote ID module. I have bought a Drone Tag I will install. I understand the pros/cons of having "commercial" (i.e., Part 107) operators comply with this (I'll put it under professionalism...I know many will disagree. Peace). My biggest beef/concern with RID are the fixed wing RC flyers. I recently got back into flying fixed wing RC (have a couple large Horizon "foam" aircraft). I live in an area that will most likely NOT have a nearby FRIA, but will have access to some rural farm land. I will therefore purchase the new Spectrum RID module (although it is my understanding I may have a long wait for it to arrive). Back to my beef/concern. I feel it is NOT a significant improvement in the National Air Space to REQUIRE hobby pilots of fixed wing RC aircraft to have RID. It is a hobby with an LONG impressive safety record. The new requirements will likely force people out of the hobby, or mean they will not choose to start if they have been on the fence about trying it. RC flying has long been a "gateway drug"(?) for those aspiring to a career in aviation. I myself never got to follow through on that aspiration (although I'm considering a Sport Pilot's License at the ripe old age of 62), but certainly don't want this pathway to flight to be made more difficult for those who wish to walk it. Thanks for all you do Jason. Best wishes to the Remote Pilot 101 and MZEROA family.
